Fans of Colorado hockey have been blessed with some amazing Avalanche teams over the last thirty years. We have also been blessed with some of the best players to ever lace em’ up. In my opinion, the player that sits on the top of that list is “Super” Joe Sakic. An incredible talent that led his teams by playing the game the right way and always made those around him better. I’ve never asked him, but my guess is he’s a little uncomfortable being called “Super”. At his very core, Joe is humble and kind, and probably would be more comfortable with “Ordinary” Joe Sakic. But the fact is, he is “Super”, and I’m not just talking about on the ice. Time and time again Joe steps up to help others. Always unselfish with his time and always making those around him feel special.
Today we spent the afternoon chatting about life, family, pets as Joe signed item after item that will be utilized to help families in need. Class, pure class.
As my friend gave me a hug goodbye he said, “I’ve got one more thing”. He then proceeded to hand me tickets to his own suite to be used to create another “once in a lifetime” memory for those who need it most.
Thank you Joe! You are “Super” in every way.
