What a night at Ball Arena as Rick and Riley Alire generously hosted our “Hockey Heals” group as we celebrated the amazing life of Catherine Alire. Eight years ago, Catherine was battling breast and esophageal cancer and was told she only had weeks to live. The diagnosis was not acceptable to this beautiful soul and she showed the world that it was not her time. When I asked Cathy how she defied the odds, she shared these powerful words, “feed the spirit every day, when you stop feeding the spirit, you will die.”
Catherine is a very proud of her Native American roots and is showing us all how important the power of positivity is. For me personally, there is no better feeling than to be surrounded by those who love life. Hats off to you Catherine, and thank you Rick and Riley for welcoming us into your family.
