Five months ago Taylor Ludy nearly lost his leg in a beer league hockey game. It occurred when an opposing player lost his balance and slid into Taylor with his skate blade resulting in a massive gash above the knee. Taylor was rushed to the hospital and his leg was saved but a long journey awaited him.
Taylor wasn’t sure this day would come, but today he was back on the ice as part of our Hockey Heals program. There were the obvious nerves and a little uncertainty as Taylor stretched and then headed to his familiar place between the pipes.
I had the honor of taking the very first shot in Taylor’s return and it’s captured on video. He of course turned it away like a pro and it was nothing but smiles after that!
Taylor has a really cool goal ahead, and that’s to be in goal on November 22nd at Magness Arena for Dawg Nation Night at DU. He’ll be facing breakaways from Avs legend Milan Hejduk, USA Paralympian Declan Farmer, and six other amazing athletes. You won’t want to miss it. Get your tix right here!!
