Dawg Bowl XII is two days in and already tons of memories! But gonna be hard to top this one! At Dawg Bowl III in 2013 we implemented our “Pass the Hat”’ envelope for the first time as we raised money for the Acuna family as their precious little Gabriel was born with deformities to his leg and foot requiring surgeries that were outside of the family budget.
Thanks to that inaugural envelope challenge, we were able to cover those costs and get baby Gabriel on the road to recovery. Fast forward nine years and Gabe, now a really good little hockey player, spent his afternoon visiting locker rooms and allowing me to tell amazing story.
For me the cherry on top was when a player asked Gabe who was his favorite hockey player. He responded, “Cale Makar”, then paused and said, “no, actually it’s him” and he pointed at me. Not a ashamed to say that this guy’s eyes welled up with pride. Here’s to ordinary people doing extraordinary things!
