At the 2026 Survivor Game, we had the incredible honor of presenting James Dever with a check for $50,000.

James is a longtime member of the hockey community who has spent years giving back to the game as both a player and referee. Earlier this year, James underwent a quadruple bypass surgery, a life-changing procedure that would challenge anyone physically, mentally, and emotionally.

True to form, James approached his recovery with determination, resilience, and the same positive attitude that has made him so respected throughout the hockey community. Today, he is not only doing well, he is already back on the ice refereeing the game he loves.

Surrounded by Survivor Game participants, family, friends, and members of the Dawg Nation community, James received a standing ovation as he accepted his check. The moment was a powerful reminder of what makes hockey so special and how quickly this community rallies around its own when someone is facing a difficult challenge.

While the financial support is meaningful, the check represented something much larger. It was a reminder that James is surrounded by people who care deeply about him and are committed to supporting him throughout his recovery and beyond.

Moments like these are why the Survivor Game exists. They remind us that hockey is about far more than goals and championships. It is about community, friendship, resilience, and showing up for one another when it matters most.

We are incredibly grateful that James is healthy, back on the ice, and continuing to do what he loves.

Congratulations, James. The entire Dawg Nation family is cheering you on.
