April 9th was quite a day as we joined CIHRA’s Dave Lowry for a visit to the home of James Dever. James is a well respected referee in the Denver area officiating games across the state. Just one week ago, James underwent quadruple bypass surgery. James is now on the road to recovery and already itching to get back on the ice.
Yesterday we handed James a check to get through the next few weeks and we also surprised him with a couple of tricks up our sleeves. James is a lifelong Philadelphia Flyers fan so we arranged to have a couple encouraging videos sent to this Flyer fanatic. First it was former Flyer Shjon Podein giving James well wishes followed by Flyer president, Keith Jones. Keith even invited James to a Flyers/Avs game next season. James was overcome with emotion as a couple of his Flyer heros let him know they’re behind him.
We were done yet though as the Dawg Father reached into his bag of tricks and pulled out a signed jersey from Flyers dman Jamie Drysdale.
Here’s to you James, looking forward to seeing you in the stripes at the 2026 Survivor Game!
