Dawg Nation is proud to recognize Jack Zwit as a Dawg Nation recipient.
Thanks to the generosity of the Dawg Nation community, we were able to present Jack and his family with a check for $11,200 to help ease the financial burden associated with his ongoing health challenges and recovery.
Jack was born on the south side of Chicago in 1955, the fifth of nine children, and from the very beginning his life was shaped by family, resilience, and an enduring love of hockey. Growing up in Chicago, Jack first laced up his skates outdoors, playing on frozen rinks and neighborhood ice where he developed both his skills and his passion for the game that would stay with him for a lifetime.
Jack and the love of his life, Debbie, were married in 1979. In 2020, they moved to Colorado to be closer to their granddaughters and enjoy this next chapter together. After retiring from a 30-year career in the railroad industry, Jack continued to find ways to serve others through volunteer work and community involvement.
It was through hockey that Jack found Dawg Nation.
The mission of serving others through the game he loves immediately resonated with him. Through Hockey Heals, Jack found not only an opportunity to give back but also a way to stay connected to the sport that has been such an important part of his life. Along the way, he became a valued member of the Hockey Heals family, and his teammates have cherished every moment spent with him both on and off the ice.
Today, Jack is battling significant health issues that have required hospitalization and ongoing treatment. As he and his family continue navigating a difficult road of treatment and recovery, they are also facing the emotional and financial challenges that often accompany serious illness.
The $11,200 raised on Jack’s behalf is a reflection of what makes the Dawg Nation community so special. When one of our own is facing a challenge, people step up.
While no check can eliminate the difficulties Jack and his family are facing, we hope this support helps ease some of the burden and allows them to focus on what matters most: Jack’s health and recovery.
