Back to the Frozen Four! For the fourth time in five years the DU Pioneers are heading to the dance. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, David Carle is best coach in college hockey and already the greatest coach in DU history. Eight years ago I had lunch with the brand new coach of the DU Pioneers. At the time DC was only 28 years old and had yet to coach a game for the Pios. More than a few eyebrows were raised when Coach Carle was handed the keys to one of the most storied programs in college hockey history, but it certainly didn’t take long to silence the critics. Over the next eight years DC has solidified himself as one of the greatest college coaches in history, and he’s still only 36! Five Frozen Four appearances, two NCAA titles and two gold medals at the World Juniors has put the Pioneer coach in rare company. Obviously an amazing leader, David is also a tremendous human being with an incredible story of resilience. Despite his is busy schedule, he continually takes the time to chat with our recipients and always spends extra time with the kids that have been dealt difficult hands. Here’s to you DC!
