We’ve come to count on Stand Up For DAWG Nation to bring both laughter and tears, and our 2025 event did not disappoint as we celebrated inspiring stories of overcoming adversity, beating cancer, and getting back on the ice with Hockey Heals. All while being entertained with a “lively” live auction and laughing till our sides ached with some of the best comics in the business, Chris Voth and Nancy Norton.
We were honored to have as our guests some of Avalanche royalty, including Milan Hejduk, Jared Bednar, Mark Moser, Michel Goulet and their lovely wives, as well as DU Pioneers Aiden Thompson and Matt Davis. All of whom brought their A-game to our auction by contributing priceless original artwork, incredible one of a kind experiences and adding a new level of excitement to the bidding antics! Also in attendance was the family of Layne Matechuk. Layne suffered a traumatic brain injury in the Humboldt bus crash (4/6/18) and was honored with a surprise check to aid him in his long road to recovery.
Our standing room only crowd, however, is what made the night truly memorable, as we raised in excess of $90K through their generosity. It’s an honor and privilege to stand on that stage and receive such an outpouring of love and support for this foundation, and especially for. and on behalf of, our many recipients. To date we have touched the lives of over 500 families, and have given over $5.5M (yes, Million!) in aide and support! And we couldn’t do that without our incredible donors, our amazing sponsors, and all of you. Truly, you help us touch lives and change the world each and every day. Thank you for a special night to remember.
A quick shout out to our presenting sponsor, Aspen Industries, who has provided for this event for that last 11 years, and to our top tier sponsors Briebug Software, and Martinson Services. These companies, along with all of the night’s corporate sponsors, help to make this event possible and we couldn’t do it without them. Thank you too, to all the staff at Comedy Works South, you are amazing. And a huge cheer to our comics… we’re still laughing. Thank you all!
