Coen Family at Check Presentation

The Coen Family Takes the Stage

As the players, sponsors and locals of Silverthorne came together on Saturday, January 15th for the Party at the Pavilion, Tim Coen was surprised to learn that he was being honored as one of the recipients of the tournament. Tim was joined on stage by his wife Jamilee and one of their sons, as well as a squad of extended family. They were overwhelmed by gratitude and humbled to be a recipient of the DAWG Nation Winter Classic. The next day Tim and Jamilee and their two little boys were on hand for the take down, helping haul out tents and boards. The little boys were on trash patrol making sure we all left the North Pond as pristine as we found it.

Special thanks to Gary Nicholds and Basic Property Management for their generous sponsorship of the Warming Tent and Silent Auction, as well as the Coen family. We don’t don’t help families in need without incredible sponsors stepping up!

Great Fellowship over a Great Meal

While the party at the Pavilion is a great place to showcase the BIG check, DAWG Nation had the privilege of giving the real check to Tim and Jamilee Coen over a incredible dinner at the Sauce on the Blue. Those of you that attended the Party at the Pavilion will remember that Tim Applegate from Sauce on the Blue and Rob Lyon from the Mountain Lyon collaborated to feed nearly five hundred people as the dinner sponsors. The generosity continued as Sauce on the Blue was not only a dinner sponsor, they also provided the intimate setting for the real check, delicious food and then generously picked up the tab. Amazing generosity that helps us keep Giving Back to the next family. If you are in Summit County, make this destination a dining priority- Sauce on the Blue! As our own Al Zuckerman says, “Yup, Tim and Deb are outstanding restaurateurs, super nice people and the dining is top notch!”

Recovering from A Fall

Tim Coen was able to be discharged from rehab on Monday, December 13th, 2021 after a severe head injury related to a fall. He has made a ton of progress, but still has a long road to recovery ahead. The family has expressed that they are honored that the Summit County community has nominated him to the DAWG Nation.

A Lot Can Happen through Hockey

Tim grew up playing hockey in Vermont, he moved to Colorado “for the skiing” in 2002. He met his future wife, Jamilee while playing men’s league hockey in Breckenridge a year later. She was coaching the Summit Hockey U12 Girls team at the time. He supported her in coaching for the next 14 years, moving up with the girls through U19’s. The team’s parents and assistant coaches often joked about how well Tim supported his wife’s hockey addiction, even traveling to hockey tournaments and watching games when he could.

Get Them Skating as Soon as They Can Walk

Once Tim and Jamilee had children of their own, he had them skating as soon as they could walk. Hayden and Hudson started playing with the Summit Hockey Mites last season. They even built their own rink in the backyard last winter, complete with bench and locker room. Tim has supported Summit Hockey, the Breckenridge Blizzard, Winter Classic Pond Hockey, 5280 Pond Hockey and the boys play in the Colorado Pond Hockey Tournament.

An Avid Outdoorsman in Work and Play

He started his own landscaping and snow removal business in 2003. In addition to hockey, Tim loves mountain biking, dirt biking, skiing, camping and riding the trails with his boys in the General side by side.
