Giving Back to Jeff Rodell

Rodell check

Jack was diagnosed with…

Jeff and Krystalyn Rodell have 3 awesome young children. Nine months ago their daughter Emerson joined her older brothers Reid, who is 2, and Jack, who is 4 – correction, “4 and a half” – just ask him and he’ll tell you. Jack was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in December of 2018. Like his dad, young Jack loves hockey. He’s had a stick in his hand every day since his dad took him to Quebec in 2017 while coaching the Foothills squirt AA team. He would love nothing more than to follow in his dad’s footsteps and fight to win a college national championship – but first Jack has to finish winning his fight with leukemia.

In December Jack’s doctors immediately started him on a 3+ year treatment for the disease. Despite having Leukemia, Jack is always smiling, always positive. Jeff and Krystalyn are inspired every day by his strength and his attitude. If you meet Jack I’m sure you’ll be inspired too! Treatment will hopefully save young Jack’s life, but medical expenses and missed work have already put a financial strain on the Rodell family.

The generosity was flowing at the Edge Ice Arena tonight as a big crowd gathered to support the Rodell family. Last December this young family received news that no family wants to hear. Their little Jack (4 at the time) was diagnosed with leukemia leaving Jeff and Krystalyn nervous and scared. As the bills piled up they worried about how they would stay above water.

Today the hockey community once again rose up to aid this wonderful family. With the combination of a public skate, auction, generous donations and DAWG Nation match we were able to provide the family for a check of $23,700!!!! Special thanks to the Edge, the Colorado Avalanche and everyone else that stepped up to help make the evening so special.
