A Rally Around Stiney
The DAWG Nation faithful and supporters of Craig Stinehour and Christina Montoya gathered at Bender’s Bar and Grill to rally around these two valued members of the hockey community. Craig was joined by nominator Dan Hohenstein and other CIHRA members, including Gary Pedigo Jr, Jamie Alary,and CIHRA member and DAWG Nation board member Craig Blumengold.
Absolutely Amazed
Craig and his wife expressed their absolute amazement at the generosity of the hockey community, his CIRHA boys and DAWG Nation. Craig said, “My wife and I were amazed at the hockey community and the boys stepping up.” Craig is a big believer in the game of hockey and has lived his life giving back to the sport. Craig added, “Anyone who knows me knows that when I say I am in to help… I mean it. If I believe in something, I’m in… and DAWG Nation, I’m in.” We are proud to say that TOGETHER we were able to cover the medical expenses thus far for Craig.
Emergency Surgery
Craig underwent emergency surgery in late October for a ruptured bowel. He was also diagnosed with COVID. He works as a general contractor as well as a hockey referee. After recovering from the initial surgery that saved his life, Craig has fought back to get back on the ice, getting back to refereeing games at both the college and high school level. Getting back around the game he loves and “the boys” has been good for the soul.
More Surgery on the Horizon
Keep Craig in your thoughts and prayers as he is scheduled for diagnostics that will inform his medical team of his readiness for a surgery that could bring him back to a full recovery. Of course if the surgery proceeds as expected, there will be an additional six to eight weeks of recovery and an inability to work.
