Our strong connection with the Humboldt Broncos is undeniable, and tonight the Broncos’ Rory McGouran took that connection to another level! Rory has been the team’s play-by-play announcer since 2018 and has even had me as an intermission guest a couple of times. The Broncos are in the semifinals of the SJHL playoffs and had their backs against the wall this weekend facing elimination on back to back nights. Well desperate times require desperate measures, so Rory slipped on his Dawgs socks to see if those socks had a little “Dawg Magic” in them. And guess what? The boys pulled off not one, but two come from behind victories to force a game seven!! Tonight’s win was incredible as it took a tying goal in the last minute of regulation and the game winner in double OT!
Here’s where it gets really cool. Back in February Dawg Nation handed out scholarships to two amazing young men that wear the Bronco green and yellow, Cage Newans and Spencer Bell. Well as fate would have it, Cage netted tonight’s tying goal and Spencer tallied the game winner! How about that?!!
Is anyone going to tell me that “Dawg Magic” isn’t real?
