Cooper

If you know me, then you likely know the amazing Cooper “Coop” Tippett! Coop wakes up everyday with the reality of MPS (Morquio Syndrome), a rare genetic disorder that affects his bones, organs, spine and physical abilities. Despite those challenges, Coop lives a very active life showing us all what “living life to its fullest” looks like. He showed everyone that last night by performing a backyard concert and wowed the large crowd with his impressive percussion skills.

At the conclusion of the show I was afforded the opportunity to say a few words and present Coop with a signed a game worn Top Dawg’s jersey from the one and only Jan “Jannie” Hejda. It took nearly a decade, but Jan just won his first Dawg Bowl and wanted nothing more than to make sure Coop had his #8! Btw, this one was also signed by Jan’s son Matheas, who made his Top Dawg debut this year!

MPS is extremely rare but the special evening gave me the chance to meet another remarkable young lady that hasn’t let MPS slow her down. Maddi (27) has a Masters from DU, works for the State of Colorado, lives on her own, drives and is independent in every way! We sat next to each other for the post concert dinner and we had a great conversation about life, challenges and making the best of any situation.

Here’s to Coop and Maddi, you inspire many, including this old Dawg! Thanks for allowing me to be part of your journey!
