The Colorado Rockies haven’t had much success over the fifteen years but that certainly isn’t due to Charlie “Chuck Nasty” Blackmon. This past week the Rockies legend called it career and last night I had the immense pleasure of spending a few moments with him during batting practice. Always gracious, always a class act, #19 provided me with a couple of signed baseballs and even shared a nice post game text. I know Charlie is being pulled in a ton of directions this week so to take a couple of moments to acknowledge this ordinary guy was way above and beyond.
The special night was shared with my friend Laura Leavy and her husband Dave, both huge Rockies fans. With the help of Dave Bryant, Larry Martinson, Rockies trainer Scott Murayama and announcer Jeff Husan, we enjoyed BP, seats right behind home plate and even an inning in the broadcast booth!
