With a very heavy heart I am saddened to share the passing of a dear teammate and friend. Al Sterner was a heck of goalie better and an even better guy. On Saturday morning he took his last breath and has left a large void in the world.
Known for his quick wit and unique story telling, Al had a true gift in making us all smile. He was also very instrumental in the foundation of Dawg Nation. An original Dawg and an original Dawg Nation board member providing many hours of volunteer work and always placing others before him.
In our hockey circles, Al was most know for his sometimes off color, but always hilarious blog posts. I spent parts of the last two days rereading some of those gems. Tears and laughs came easily as I recounted the cherished times with one of the best.
