Wow, what a weekend. Started on Friday with a little Stanley Cup time, then it was the Avs/Flyers with my gal. Saturday did a surprise check presentation to really special kid followed by a very memorable DU Pioneer game. Of course I was up early on Sunday for my weekend pond hockey fix before settling for what I thought would be a relaxing AFC Championship game in our cozy living room. Boy was I wrong! As the fourth quarter started I got a call from my neighbor asking if the fire in my yard was on purpose. What?!! I looked out the window to see flames ten feet high next to my driveway! Turns out a pile of branches and pine needles had ignited, likely from a rouge ember. The scramble was on as we emptied fire extinguishers, threw snow on the blaze, feverishly filled 5 gallon buckets and inhaled plenty of smoke along the way. The fire department arrived when we just about had the flames extinguished, but I certainly felt better when they added few hundred gallons of water to the smoldering pile! Definitely not the ideal way to close out the weekend but there was no damage, no one was hurt and we have another story for the ages! Screenshot Screenshot
