This year‘s tee it up golf tournament was special for many reasons… for the camaraderie of our golfers, the support of our many sponsors, the dedication of our volunteers, the attention to detail that the university of Denver golf club always delivers to make our event run seamlessly, and for the incredible general generosity that is shown throughout the day. But there was one hole that seemed to touch hearts more than most, and that was the lemonade stand hosted in memory of Sawyer Costa. This little gal had such a big heart, and her smile was truly infectious, bringing joy to all who knew her. She delighted in chickens (yes, pet chickens), loved pickles and was an awesome little hockey player, with spunk and skill aplenty. In order to help her family she had her own lemonade stand, and it was during this activity that she tragically lost her life when a truck accidentally struck her. Earth lost an angel that day as heaven gained one. So it was in memory of Sawyer that we hosted a lemonade stand this year, and as we will continue to do in future years. We cannot express how grateful we are to all of our foursomes who pitched in and bought a rather expensive lemonade but which was in many ways truly priceless Through your generosity we raised over $4K! We can’t help but think that Sawyer is looking down and smiling, maybe even crowing!
