Dave began skating with the DAWGs in their second season (2004) and was part of three championship teams. In December of 2007, during a routine checkup, Dave was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He underwent surgery and immediately got to work to ensure a full and complete recovery. And what a recovery it was as Dave was back on the ice and also climbing some of the highest and most challenging peaks in the world!
During his recovery period, he could always count on the strength of his second family, the members of DAWG Nation. He said, “We are absolutely a family. They supported me the way a family member, a band of brothers would”.
It’s been several years, and Dave is still cancer free. Now an integral part of the DAWG Nation Board, Dave continues to make key contributions through his work on the Recipient Committee and assistance with the annual Survivor Game.
