Carissa “Luu” Aspnes was riding on the back of a motorcycle in Parker on March 28, 2025 when they crashed into a car driven by an unlicensed and uninsured motorist who cut across three lanes of traffic to cause the crash. Luu was thrown into a concrete barrier and, despite being helmeted and in full protective gear, she suffered a traumatic brain injury, fractures of her leg, arm, and face, and numerous other injuries. Doctors at the emergency room did not think she would survive. The severe swelling in her brain necessitated surgery to remove a large portion of her skull, and she remained in ICU for nearly 3 weeks. Slow recovery commenced with breathing on her own and some eye movement, and she was moved to Craig Rehabilitation Hospital in June. Further surgery was completed in August, and she was able to be moved home on October 2. Luu’s recovery is progressing but has many more months to go. Medical costs have understandably been immense, with insurance covering only a portion of the substantial cost. Pleas donate to help this wonderful young woman and her family out!
