The journey back to the ice has begun! An early morning wake up call had Hunter and yours truly on an empty sheet of ice on a fridgid Colorado morning. It’s been nearly five months since Hunter’s life changing surgery that replaced most of the bone in his right leg with a titanium rod. Hunter has dreamed of this day but he was also nervous, anxious, excited and a little scared. We began by slowly going up and down the ice. I was there to stabilize my little buddy as he gained strength and confidence with every stride. After that we put a stick in Hunter’s hands and he didn’t miss a beat as he tossed the sauce with a big grin across his face.
There are still many hills to climb, but this was quite a start. Keep it up Hunter, you are amazing and the world is rooting for you!
Special thanks to Mark and Foothills Ice Arena for opening their hearts and doors to a couple of rink rats that were making hockey memories that will last a lifetime!
