Many other charities have high overhead costs, including paying their officers and people that solicit donations. Also, when other hockey charities hold a silent auction, it is common that a third party is hired to bring in items and run the auction. In these scenarios, the auction company typically retains the majority of the profits, and only a small portion finds its way back to the charity. This is not the case with DNHF. We have a small army of players, family, and friends that donate so much of their free time to help make our charity so successful. And because so many sports teams and other businesses, both local and across the country, have heard about our mission and want to be part of it, we receive hundreds of valuable items free of charge. So when we auction that merchandise, every penny goes to a player in need.
At Dawg Nation Hockey Foundation, we are proud to say that every board member’s position is completely voluntary, and they receive no financial compensation for any of their efforts!
It’s important to know, when we receive donations in honor of a specific individual, all money collected is given to them. We do not use those funds for any other purpose.
We do have some overhead costs, like paying for ice time for our Dawg Bowl tournament, but almost all of the money we raise from our events goes towards our special cause. And the more money we have available, the more lives we can help change.
