AFA with CO School for the Blind

Today’s office wasn’t too shabby. Another special day on the ice, this time with the Colorado School for the Blind.

My first time ever skating on the USAFA ice, and what a Christening it was! I was randomly paired with a young man named Easton (great hockey name btw). Easton was born without sight and had never been on skates or held a hockey stick until today! We began slowly but by the end of the session Easton was standing on his own and even passing the puck. As we were wrapping up I asked my new friend what he thought of tbe morning and he responded, “this is the greatest day of my life!”

And now here’s the “no coincidences” part. After the skate Easton peeled off his flannel shirt and underneath was a red shirt with, you guessed it, a DAWG on the front! Basically the same DAWG that was on the front of my red jersey!!! Is anyone surprised?!!

Hats off to Doris Donley and Craig Fitzpatrick for hosting and organizing another memorable day! The world is better place because of people like Doris and Craig, great job both of you!
