The Jonny O is Back Baby
The Jonny O is a 3vs3 indoor “pond hockey” style tournament. This tournament was born when one of Fighting Amish boys, Jonny Orelt, was injured in an accident, leaving him paralyzed. His teammates, Jared Schmierbach and Matt Heath rallied to his side. Knowing that Jon was already a recipient of DAWG Nation, the quickly reached out hoping for help and support. An incredible partnership has emerged that led to the birth of DAWG Nation St. Louis. In year one, the Jonny O Bash resulted in putting a check in this young man’s hand for $55,500.
A Continuing Need
Obviously, with injuries as severe as Jonny’s, his needs continue. He has shown us all what it means to approach this challenge with incredible strength and resiliency. His gentle demeanor, positivity, and love for others is inspiring. In addition, with DAWG Nation now operating an office in St. Louis, we know that the needs of the hockey families in the greater St. Louis area are just beginning to surface as DAWG Nation grows.
Three Days of Hockey, Beer, Music and Giving Back
The tournament starts Friday, May 13th, with a charity game featuring DAWG Nation St. Louis and The St. Louis Blues Warrior Hockey. We are honored to welcome back Charles Glenn to help kick off the tournament with his golden pipes. Tournament play begins Saturday. We look forward to gathering again as a community to enjoy a weekend of hockey, live music, drinking beer, and GIVING BACK to Jonny O and other recipients with on ice check presentations. Get your team ready as there are multiple divisions to test your skill.
