Another huge success!
The tenth annual Tee It Up for DAWG Nation was another huge success as we once again witnessed the power of a community rallying together to help a family in need. Sponsors, golfers, supporters and volunteers bonded together to lift up the O’Keefe family both financially and emotionally on this magical day! Their eight month old son, Kieran, has already persevered multiple surgeries and is now on his way to a full recovery!
The amazing Steve Patten
In addition to Kieran we also recognized the amazing Steve Patten. Blind since birth, Steve has been a lifelong hockey fan, always dreaming of one day playing the sport he loves. Well, that improbable dream is now a reality as Steve is working hard to become the next goalie of the US National Blind Hockey squad!
As part of the evening festivities we surprised this terrific young man with a custom painted goalie mask. The mask was painted by local artist Kenny Hughes who used raised paint method so Steve could feel the custom logos donning the mask.
An impressive field.
The field was an impressive one with Stanley Cup Winners, NCAA champions, Colorado Avalanche legends, broadcasters and NHL referees all gracing us on this beautiful Colorado afternoon.
Avalanche legend, Joe Sakic, joined us for the for first time and came away very impressed.
