Old DAWGs Roster

At DAWG Nation we are all about “Giving Back” but sometimes we like to take a little for ourselves. The DAWG family is made up of folks from all walks of life but I’m not sure if there is a better group than the fellas that make up the Old DAWGs roster. The Old DAWGs are an over 40 squad that plays in the SDOHL at the Old Foothills rink in Lakewood. The number one goal of this group is to have fun but we also don’t mind winning a few games along the way! The 2014-15 season started pretty slowly for this bunch as we struggled early and often. Things turned around a bit near the end of the season and we ended up in finishing in fifth place (out of nine) heading into the playoffs. Not too impressive, but that’s when the magic began! Our biggest winning streak all season was a whopping two games but somehow we rattled off five straight in the playoffs to win the SDOHL Cup!! The final game was a thrilling 3-2 victory of the Pickleheads, captained by Wayne Faust (composer of the DAWG Nation anthem). This one was personally really special for me as it was the first time I was able to win a title with some of my long DAWGs and closest friends. Special thanks to Greg “Nard DAWG” Clinard for co-captaining this one with me and Al “SFG” Sterner for guiding us from behind the bench!
