Mark Shanley

Mark is well known in metro-Denver adult recreational hockey circles having played continuously on teams since he moved to Denver from Boston in 1994.  Mark joined the Grey Wolves hockey team in 2003 and was MVP of the 2003 championship team and played on seven Grey Wolves championship teams between 2003 and 2024.  Mark is currently the Captain of the Grey Wolves RMHL team.  Mark has also played for Oglethorpe’s and Business Class adult hockey teams and often participates in the Mallard’s weekly organized scrimmages.

On September 2, 2024, Mark had colon surgery and was subsequently diagnosed with Stage 4 adenocarcinoma.  While recovering from the surgery, Mark is conducting consultations with Oncologists and will most likely begin chemotherapy treatments in early October.

Mark is a loving father to 3 daughters aged 6, 13 and 16.  Due to his current circumstances, Mark will be unable to work and provide for his family, as he needs to concentrate on healing, his treatments and beating this disease for his children and himself.  Despite the severity of his condition, Mark remains his funny, strong, and optimistic self.

As you can imagine, the costs associated with everything that is involved will be significant. Therefore, we humbly ask for your help in easing this financial burden. Every donation, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated. Your support will allow Mark to focus on what truly matters, and together, we can provide Mark with the support he needs during these difficult times. We also ask for prayers and positive thoughts toward seeing Mark return to being whole and healthy.
