It was a standing room only crowd at Comedy Works on 3/21/18 as they once again hosted us for a night of laughs, tears, cheers… and more than a few beers! We had lots of generous souls in the house, making it our most successful Stand-Up event ever. A big shout out first and foremost to our celebrity comedians… Vic Alejandro, John Novosad and the inimitable Josh Blue… who left us all laughing in the aisles (and all the way home)! Also want to thank Aspen Industries for once again stepping up and sponsoring this event in a big way. And we can’t thank Jake Schroeder enough who belted out the National Anthem with such passion.
We were honored to have Jason “Shep” Shepperly in the audience, a remarkable veteran who was recently awarded the Bronze Star with Valor (which is a medal only rarely awarded, placing him in a very select handful of decorated soldiers… his story is worthy of a movie and it was a privilege to honor him last night.)
We also presented a check to our most recent recipient, Dr. Rob Meguid and his wife, Cheryl, who’s story of beating the odds against a critical illness, while travelling overseas and trying to get back home, was inspiring.
A high point of the night was the video montage that was set to Five for Fighting’s song “Born To Win” (a special shout out to Nate Freeman, the young man who helped create this powerful piece for us). Highlighting what we’ve done, and what we hope to do, the video set the stage as we reached out to the audience with our “ASK”… and boy did you all respond!
Thanks to all of you we raised more than $25K in less than 15 minutes!!! Thank you to all who attended, to all our volunteers, and to all of you who so generously donated… and to all the countless folks who continue to help us help others… together we strive to make the world a better place.
To sum up: You should of been there!
