For the second time this postseason, I passed on Avs playoff tix, but this time was a no brainer in my eyes! In 2022, Michael Freeman and I were trying to put on a pond tourney in Summit County and due to excessive snow and brutal ice conditions the likelihood of pulling this one off was very bleak. But that’s when Jose Canche (Martinson Services) and his amazing crew stepped up. What I didn’t realize until two years later was that Jose was battling stage four cancer at the time and was in midst of painful and draining chemo treatments. The hard work of Jose and his crew literally saved the tournament and allowed us to help two more families. And after all that, Jose refused payment citing “it’s the right thing to do.” Wow, just wow!
Mike and I could not of been more grateful, so skipping an Avs game was the obvious choice and a very small price to pay for honoring this amazing man and his incredible crew!
It certainly didn’t hurt that the Rapids rolled out the red carpet and gave us all one heck of night to remember!
Gracias Jose, you truly are the man!
