Sometimes I just have to pinch myself and and say, “how in the world did this happen?”. Taking in game two of the Stanley Cup Finals with my honey was amazing, but hosting the guy that literally co-founded Apple is beyond fathomable.
It’s truly unbelievable how many “no coincidences” had to happen for this ordinary guy to be rooting for my favorite team and spending the evening with one of the greatest computer minds in the history of the world! In the center of all those unlikely scenarios is my dear friend Jan Hejda. Although Jannie was not with me last night, it was incredibly appropriate that this special day landed on his birthday!!! I shake my head as I think about “The Woz”, standing in Ball Arena, wearing a Jan Hejda jersey, and making a b-day video to my friend!! Are you kidding me?!!
And to top it all off, I was blessed to celebrate this amazing night with Sean “Gags” Gagnon. Although it’s been 3 1/2 years since my friend lost his battle with ALS, I still think about him often and absolutely cherish his number 18 Wagner University jersey that he generously left for me when he said goodbye. Knowing that Sean had never made it to a Stanley Cup final, I took him with me last night! Sean, I know you enjoyed that one as much as me!
And finally, this is my first Father’s Day without my dad. A man that I was lucky and proud to call “dad” Miss you buddy.
