Giving Back to Lee Giroux

Lee Giroux check

Last month Westminster firefighter Lee Giroux played in the annual Craig Moilanen Cup at the Edge, a tourney that aids the family of fallen firefighter, Craig Moilanen. During the tourney Lee took a slap shot to the face did some serious damage, including multiple facial fractures. Being a true hockey player, Lee left the ice and drove himself to the hospital so he wouldn’t interrupt the game!!

On Saturday we surprised this local hero at firehouse #2 in Westminster with a check to cover his medical bills. In addition we couldn’t help but notice that Lee shares the same last name of a pretty decent hockey player. Ironically, we had just received a couple of Claude Giroux signed sweaters in the mail and it made perfect sense to present Lee with one of those!!!

Lee’s recovery has been good so far and he hopes to be cleared to work with no restrictions by the end of month. And yup, expect to see this tough guy back on the ice this summer!! We would like to take a moment to thank Lee and all the first responders that continually put their lives on the line to keep us all safe! Hats off to all of our local heroes!!
