Meet Drew, a man who is more than just a best friend to many—he’s like a brother. Last Thursday, while hiking Mt. Harvard, a challenging “14ner” in Colorado near Buena Vista, Drew experienced a tragic fall after summiting the peak. The fall left him unconscious, suffering from a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) along with multiple skull and bone fractures. Miraculously, his good friend, Mike Meyer, was able to reach several hikers from The Mountain Men, a Christian-based adventure organization. One of the hikers had a satellite phone and was able to reach the Chafee County Search & Rescue nearby for help. Thanks to their expertise, Drew was airlifted to the only level 1 trauma hospital in southern Colorado. We are grateful for the collective efforts of this loving group! They were all relentless in their focus and prayer over Drew through an extreme and lengthy rescue. Drew is a dedicated hockey dad, husband to wife Aunalise Johnson, and friend. His sons, Aiden (19) and Donovan (16) have both played for Littleton Hockey Association as well as KC Fighting Saints. Drew has been an active supporter for LHA over a decade, serving as a coach, assistant coach, and treasurer. Drew’s passion for hockey began in his hometown of St. Louis, then playing in Kansas City and today he continues to play in the adult league for The Red Bricks. An avid hiker, biker, and skier, Drew finds immense joy in everything adventurous, his dog Tally, UFC fights, and entertaining friends with his witty personality, dad jokes, and a relentless drive for perfection (that’s some Drew dry humor by the way). This beautiful family now faces immense adversity. Drew’s road to recovery will require full-time rehabilitation for his TBI, presenting substantial monetary, emotional, physical, and mental challenges. Despite the severity of his injury, Drew is making progress every day, and we are deeply thankful for how far he has come. “Faith. Hope. Love. And the greatest of these is LOVE” – Together, let’s rally and show our love and support for Drew and his family. Let’s make a difference in Drew’s recovery, so he can return to loving and living life to the fullest. Stay up to date with Drew’s progress here:
