Giving Back to the Woudstra Twins

Our Smallest DAWGS

Our logo has never seemed bigger than on the onesies of the Woudstra Twins. We were honored to pay the new parents, Nate and Elle, a home visit to deliver the real check. We were happy to meet the twins for the first time, Wytze and Felix. So great to see both boys healthy and growing towards the hockey expectations set for them. Nate told us the story of trying to get the NICU nurses to let them try some little skates on the twins, so we know it won’t be long now.

The Grey Wolves Rally with a Win for the Check Presentation

Mark Shanley, nominator for the Woudstras, invited Nathan out to come cheer on his team. Nate and Elle had recently gotten their twins home from the NICU and Mark slyly was looking to get Nate to the rink so we could surprise him with a check to support his new family. DAWG Nation provided the pitchers of beer to the the winning team, luckily the Grey Wolves with a 4-3 win over the Dekes. We surprised Nate with a check on behalf of DAWG Nation and his donors, along with a couple DAWG Nation onesies.

A Pair of Future 2039 Draft Picks Need Some Help Getting Started

Nate and Elle have been married for 8 years and were expecting to start their family in November but the twins had a different plan and surprised them on September 19. These twin boys were born pre-mature, Wytze and Felix Woudstra. Elle and Nate rented an apartment near where the boys were at the NICU at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver. This short-term rental allowed them to be close to the hospital to give them more time with the boys. Wytze Munoa Woudstra was born at 3 lbs, 2 oz and his little brother Felix Munoa Woudstra was born at 2lbs, 13.5oz.

A Dad and Mom with Roots in Hockey

Nate has been very involved in the local hockey community as a youth player, coach and a beer leaguer with the Grey Wolves hockey team.  Elle is a Michigan transplant and enjoyed a productive career playing in the DU rec league with Nate.

Unexpected Expenses Cleared

With the babies in a NICU and a short term rental, there were obvious unexpected expenses. Our rally around the family let the family focus on getting everyone healthy and put these unexpected expenses behind them. Thank you for helping us clear the slate for this young family. Now we all await the first skate for the twins!
