Soveroski

A tragedy on the ice…

Lenny was involved in all youth and adult sports in the Cheyenne community as an official. While officiating a Men’s League hockey game on 10/07/2018, he suffered and died from an apparent heart attack. He leaves behind a wife, Joanne, and two grown children, Alex and Jane. Lenny was a high school special education teacher who had intended to retire at the end of the 2018-19 school year.

Today we had the honor of meeting the Soveroski family in their time of need. Lenny Soveroski was a gentle, kind, unselfish individual who who sadly passed away doing what he loved most, refereeing hockey. To pull this off, we partnered with the always generous Will Dooley and the rest of the Cheyenne, Wyoming hockey community.

Led by Will, the Cheyenne community hosted a benefit game that included a surprise check presentation totaling just under $11,000!!! Lenny was a husband, father, referee, teacher, and incredible volunteer within every community he touched. Today was yet another reminder of what happens when the hockey community comes together when one of their own needs a helping hand. Great job Cheyenne!!!!
