A Team Rallies Behind their Fallen Captain

The Colorado Springs DAWGS, known as the COS DAWGS on the schedule, are a staple at every pond hockey tournament and DAWG Bowl. They had to rally the troops as their founder, captain, and leader, Rob Fees, was killed in motorcycle accident in early November. The team rallied to the ice with custom camo jerseys for their fallen captain, all with Rob’s #8 and FEES across the back. They were joined by Avalanche Alumni Kyle Quincey who has been a staple on their team going back to the Copper Mountain version of DAWG Nation’s pond hockey. Quincey and the COS boys made their captain proud finishing 3-1 with 40 goals and one successful marriage proposal.

An Emotional Check Presentation

DAWG Nation had the honor of presenting a check on behalf of the DAWG Nation Winter Classic, DREP, its sponsors and players to Randy Fees, Rob’s dad. Randy was surrounded on the stage by all Rob’s teammates. Through tears, Randy expressed his gratitude to all and spoke to the hardship of losing his son and best friend.

A Devastating Loss

We are devastated to share that one of our own passed away on November 11, 2021 in a tragic motorcycle accident. Rob Fees was a son, a husband, a father, a coach, a member of our armed forces and a DAWG. Rob was a kind and selfless individual who always made those around him better. With the aid of Trevor Clark, Rob was the founder of our Colorado Springs DAWGs and also the architect behind the Monument Meltdown Tournament that aided families in need. Rob will be dearly missed by all and remembered forever. Rob loved his family, friends, and his country, which he served for twenty three years in the military.

Certainly, keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
