Celebrating Spencer In Jackson, Wyoming

DAWG Nation paired up with the Jackson Hole Moose to put on an incredible event to support Spencer’s family and celebrate his life. Over the weekend family, friends, and community members joined us in a hockey game and weekend to give back! Spencer’s hockey journey and community were all incorporated during this weekend to show love, from his past at Vermont hockey to his most recent team the Moose! Teammates and coaches were all involved to create such a memorable and impactful weekend for all involved but most importantly the Morton family.

A Sudden Tragedy

Tragically in mid-May, Spencer suffered a thoracic aortic aneurysm that took his life. He leaves behind a wife and young kids who he cared and loved for beyond belief. His family needs our support to help them through this immensely tough situation and we are honored to join you in helping support his family through this immensely difficult time.

A Leader

Spencer Morton is remembered for his passion for hockey and the outdoors and his willingness to help lead others alongside him. Spencer was known as a top fishing guide not only in Jackson hole Wyoming where he owned Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School but in the country. He received the honors of “Top Wyoming Guide” in 2012 and 2013.

Spencer not only was a vocal leader but lead by example as well. He taught many skills and lessons through his actions. Barry Goers, a friend to Spencer, mentioned, “I learned new skills from Spencer, some things one only learns through competing, watching and failing. I watched and learned from him as anyone who admires another human being would. I integrated skills and lessons from him that were sometimes never even communicated.” His selfless actions carried weight throughout his community and touched the hearts of many.

High Level Hockey

Spencer played hockey at the Division I level for the University of Vermont Catamounts and continued his hockey career with the Jackson Hole Moose. Spencer was a key member to the hockey community around him, helping others get better on and off the ice. Spencer’s character was represented where-ever he went whether he was playing hockey, fishing, or with his family and friends.
