Brian “Opie” needs help with uncovered medical expenses.

Brian “Opie” Wassberg

Brian Wassberg, affectionately known as “Opie” in the hockey community, has been playing goalie for over 40 years in numerous hockey leagues including the Edge Old Time Hockey league at The Edge Ice Arena.

The years playing goalie have taken their toll, and Opie had his left knee surgically replaced on January 14, 2016 and had his right knee replaced in late February, 2016.

DAWG Nation recently presented Opie a check to help his financial needs due to time off from work, physical therapy requirements, ice machine costs, co-pays for prescriptions and other deductibles, Physician assistant costs not covered by insurance, and medical equipment costs.

While this check was originally meant to cover his needs from his knee replacement surgeries, since then Opie developed complications from the latest surgery which put him in the hospital for 12 days.

Since his financial needs have continued to grow, DAWG Nation has decided to keep his donation link active on the website for an extended time.

Opie has work to do to get back on the ice and is looking forward to rejoining his teammates and hockey friends!
