We followed the trip to Evergreen for Tony Huss with a trip down to the Apex Ice Arena to surprise an equally deserving Arnie Archuleta. Arnie has volunteered countless hours to introduce the game of hockey to literally hundreds of boys and girls. A long time Arvada resident, Arnie is an important piece of the hockey community that was witnessed by a very impressive turnout. “Arnie’s Army” joined us on the ice at the intermission of the Ralston Valley/Dakota Ridge game with another surprise check in the amount of $10,000.
Arnie still has quite a battle ahead as he wages his war against a rare form of cancer. But he knows he’s not alone in his journey, one we know he will triumph over!
God Bless Tony and Arnie, and Merry Christmas to all of DAWG Nation!!
Arnie looks forward to returning to work for the very supportive locally owned company, Colorado Collison Repair, where he has worked for 30 years. He’s a single father to Shelby (19) a sophomore at CSU and Raymond (16) a student athlete at Columbine High School. He has been a great father figure and mentor to many. Arnie is a loved member of the Arvada community. Graduated in 1988 from Pomona HS.
He has spent many years volunteering as a youth roller hockey coach and has mentored many of our youth into growing into the best version of themselves (both in and out of skates. Arnie has also played for the Iceaholics and Grizzlies in a Men’s Adult Hockey league at Apex since 2011 and is hoping to get back to playing hockey!
Let’s rally to make sure Arnie overcomes these obstacles with OUR help.
