Over the last two years I was able to get to know a very special young man. Craig Moilanen was a son, brother, husband and father who left us way too young. Craig fought an amazing battle against leukemia and did virtually everything he could to fight off this terrible disease. This one is very heartbreaking as Craig leaves behind a wife (Amy) and two young children.
It was a powerful and sad day as Cindy and I, along with Rob and Kelli Packard, attended the funeral of this local firefighter and DAWG Nation recipient. From the hundreds of uniformed firefighters, to the time honored traditions of these brave men and women, to the sounds of the bag pipes, to the many other lasting images, it was a very special day.
During this journey I had the pleasure of meeting Craig through DAWG Nation and watched his roller coaster two year battle firsthand. I had the pleasure of meeting his family, family friends and fellow firefighters.
Please join all of us at DAWG Nation in remembering this brave young man who was taken from us way too early. At the same time please continue to provide thoughts and prayers for the entire Moilanen family.
Craig, you impacted many lives, including mine, rest in peace my friend.
