I haven’t posted a “no coincidences” for quite a while, but today was pretty cool. A 3:30 am wakeup call was a little rough as I caught the 6 am flight to the “City of Brotherly Love” to meet up with my good buddy Jan Hejda. Jannie generously organized three Junior Dawgs teams to compete in the very elite “World Selects Invitational” in Philadelphia. This tourney includes a plethora of incredibly skilled players and is filled with future NHL stars.
Now the “no coincidences” part. Jannie inadvertently booked the hotel in the Philadelphia Historical District. This is truly where the United States deepest roots exist. We, of course, began our trip with a Philly cheesesteak and a cold Yuengling lager! As we enjoyed a perfect kickoff lunch, my big Czech friend shared that he has scheduled his USA citizenship interview/test in less than two weeks! What?!! I saw that as a perfect time/place to put on my American History hat and become Jannie’s personal history guide! So, we visited Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the US Mint, and literally walked the streets of our forefathers! It was a truly great day! Can’t wait to celebrate with our newest US citizen!!
