Chris Kearns is long-time hockey player and a cancer Survivor.  After his diagnosis in 2015 with Stage 3 Colon cancer, he underwent surgery and chemotherapy, but amazingly returned to the ice less than six weeks later – joining the Dawg Nation Survivor game, and also joined his Puck Dynasty teammates at the Dawg Bowl for several of the following years.  Although he and his wife Alayna relocated to Leadville, Chris made the commute down for each Survivor and Puck Dynasty game!

For much of the last year, Chris and Alayna were in California to assist his parents who were struggling with health issues of their own. Upon their return to Colorado in early November, Chris was rushed at 2:00 a.m. from Frisco to the hospital in Lakewood just prior to I-70 being closed in whiteout conditions.  Once there, he was diagnosed with a life-threatening spinal infection. He was rushed to the hospital for an immediate infusion of antibiotics, spent two days in the ICU, and another three weeks at the hospital while he battled complications from the treatments.  He released this week, is back home in Leadville, will remain on high doses of antibiotics for 12 weeks or more, and is understandably out of work.  The doctors expect that a full recovery will take up to 18 months.

Please help Chris and Alayna as they move cautiously forward towards a full recovery!
