Brett Costa fell in love with hockey in high school while living in Parker, Colorado. His skills on the ice earned him a scholarship to the University of Denver. Unfortunately, a knee injury ended his competitive playing days early, but that didn’t hinder his love of the sport. Instead he transitioned into adult rec leagues and coaching. Brett and family now live in Laramie, Wyoming and Brett coaches three age groups (8U, 10U and 12U) with the Laramie Outlaws. Brett also played in local adult leagues and enjoyed other special coaching opportunities like supporting the Mile High Mites trying to get more kids involved in the sport. Unfortunately, Brett was involved in an accident that has left him paralyzed. While a long road to recovery still lies ahead, he is motivated by the prospect of getting back on the ice both to coach and play in a hockey sled. The ice rink is Brett’s happy place and while this injury is a setback, it will not deter him from being there to support the Outlaws and do what he loves.
Please consider donating to Brett Costa and his family, and join us in wishing them the very best in their transition into a new life.
