A special day at the rink

Published

It was quite a day on Promenade Ice Centre as I assembled a squad called the “Inclusive Dawgs” for CLASH 3v3 tourney. It was quite a team that ended up accomplishing something I honestly didn’t think was possible. Our roster was made up of seven amazing athletes and yours truly. The lineup included a sled hockey player, two blind hockey players, three special hockey players and a best of all, Hunter Murphy, an eleven year old battling bone cancer. Hunter is a spectacular young man that is facing life altering surgery on Tuesday,

July 30th. But  that didn’t stop this brave little warrior from leading the way for this unconventional crew! As the day began, I was secretly hoping to just keep our games somewhat close, but instead we somehow went 4-0-0 and brought home the Copper Division title! Wow! Proving to everyone that barriers are meant to be overcome!

The day was full of smiles hugs and precious memories. For me, this is truly what life and sports is all about!
