Veteran and Hockey Mom Need our Help!
On the night of December 16th, 2023 Erica Doemland, an Air Force Veteran, her son Loudon, and another hockey family were traveling home from high school hockey games in Colorado Springs, when a driver traveling at an excessive rate of speed, hit a patch of ice and hit them head on. Erica was airlifted to Colorado Springs where she underwent emergency surgery to control internal bleeding. As a result of the impact, the trauma surgeon removed her spleen and 1/3 of her pancreas which was badly damaged in the accident. Erica spent several weeks in the hospital in Colorado Springs recovering and has faced a challenging road since her release. She has had multiple complications after the removal of her damaged organs which has resulted in multiple surgeries and procedures. These additional complications and surgeries have not only taken a toll on Erica’s body both mentally and physically, but have also added exponential financial stress for her. Erica is trying to get back to living a normal life, but she still has a long road to recovery and more expensive procedures ahead of her. Erica loves the outdoors, and before her accident she was living life to the fullest, hiking, paddle boarding, and searching for the next best hot springs, now she struggles to get through her daily activities.
