During our first annual CornDAWG Competition we were honored to present Sam Beveridge with a check for $20,000 to support his transition in life after his leg amputation. Sam’s positive outlook and extreme gratitude for life is encouraging to us all. Dawg Nation is proud to stand with Sam during his journey.
AN ACTIVE FATHER AND OUTDOOR ENTHUSIAST
Hockey dad Sam Beveridge is an active father of 12 and 15-year old boys. He participates in their interest of all things outdoors as well as their love of playing hockey for the Littleton Hawks. Sam’s oldest son Jack play on the LHA U15 AA Black team and youngest son Gage plays on the LHA U12 AA Red team. Sam himself is also a very active athlete and avid cyclist, enjoying racing both road and mountain bikes. Sam is a familiar face around all of the local hockey rinks as he rarely misses an opportunity to see his sons’ in action. Sam is a well known and respected member of the LHA and the entire hockey community.
A FIGHT TO GET BACK TO A NEW NORMAL
Tragedy struck Sam in early February as his right leg below the knee was amputated as a result of a gunshot wound sustained during a routine hunting trip. If individuals without proper medical training weren’t on site, Sam would most likely have lost his life. It is now his inner fight and mental toughness that will bring him back to the normal, everyday active lifestyle he enjoyed prior to the accident. He is an AVID cyclist and has completed the Leadville 100 bike race 11 years in a row! Now, he will need the proper prosthetic to get back into the active lifestyle he was used to (biking, running, hiking, etc).
